Mitochondrial Comparative Genomics

Creative Biogene has the most integrated mitochondrial service platform, and a team of experienced experts is committed to providing customized mitochondrial comparative genomics research solutions to customers around the world.

The comparison between genomes has led to some amazing biological discoveries. If a particular mtDNA sequence or mtDNA motif appears in all species on a branch of an evolutionary tree, the sequence is said to be conservative among these species. The evolutionary conservatism of a certain mtDNA sequence suggests that the species with these sequences have corresponding advantages of natural selection. At the same time, it also suggests that it has an important function, which may be a protein-coding sequence or regulatory region.

Mitochondrial comparative genomics refers to comparing the structure of known mitochondrial genes and genes based on mitochondrial genome map and sequence analysis to understand the function, expression regulation mechanism, and evolution process of mitochondrial genes.

Evolutionary comparison of homologous gene coding region sequences is one of the most common analysis methods, such as PAML. Besides, Creative Biogene also uses the latest HDMKPRF method to analyze the population genome data of multiple species at the same time.

Analysis Content

  • Paired mitochondrial genomes are compared with related species.

Using the homology of coding sequence and structure between two genomes, Creative Biogene locates the genes in other genomes through the mapping information of known genomes, thus revealing the potential function of mitochondrial genes and the changes of the internal structure of the genome.

  • Make multi-genome comparisons with related species.

When comparing the sequences between more than two genomes, the evolutionary relationship of the sequences in the phylogenetic tree is essentially obtained. Creative Biogene studies a variety of biological genome data and their vertical and horizontal evolution processes to understand the structure and regulation of genes that are vital to life. The increase of genome information makes it possible to study evolution and gene function at the level of the mitochondrial genome.
